Adult Lecture Event
The Bentonville Public Library and Bentonville Library Foundation preset the first in a series of exciting events centered around how food has the ability to heal our bodies.
Join Dr. Craig Keever, Northwest Arkansas’ first plant-based pediatrician, as he shares his personal and professional journey toward using food as a powerful tool for healing. In this inspiring and informative session, Dr. Keever will discuss how shifting his own diet transformed his approach to medicine—and how the same principles can improve the lives of children and adults alike.
You'll learn the fundamentals of whole food, plant-based nutrition and gain a deeper understanding of the six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine, with an emphasis on nutrition and physical activity. Whether you're new to plant-based living or simply curious about how daily habits can impact long-term health, this talk will offer practical insights and real-world strategies you can begin using right away.
After Dr. Keever’s talk, stay for an unforgettable tasting experience created by chef and artist Amy Keever. The menu is as colorful and bold as it is delicious:
· Spicy Plant-Based Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms – rich, savory bites with a hint of heat.
· Lion’s Mane & Oyster Mushroom Fajitas – marinated in Amy’s signature smoky-chili sauce.
· Ancho Chili Rice – a warm, fragrant side with a gentle kick.
· Poblano Cashew Cheese Sauce – creamy, velvety, and perfect for drizzling.
· Muhammara with Pomegranate & Pita – a roasted red pepper and walnut dip topped with jewel-like pomegranate seeds.
· Raspberry Shortbread Bars – sweet-tart layers with a buttery plant-based crust.
· Strawberry Petit Fours – delicate and decadent, finished with a pop of color.
· A Surprise Mocktail – a refreshing, seasonal sip to tie it all together.
Come hungry—this isn’t just a tasting, it’s a full experience of how plant-based food can be both nourishing and irresistibly delicious.
About Out Presenters:
Dr. Craig Keever is Northwest Arkansas’ first and only plant-based pediatrician, blending traditional medicine with the power of nutrition and lifestyle to promote lasting health. With over 20 years of experience caring for families in the region, Dr. Keever founded Ozark Pediatrics in 2016 to provide compassionate, evidence-based care rooted in prevention. He adopted a plant-based diet in 2020, earned a Plant-Based Nutrition certification from Cornell University, and became board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine in 2023. Today, he is passionate about educating both patients and parents on how food choices can prevent and even reverse chronic disease.
Dr. Keever will share the science and simple strategies behind using whole-food, plant-based eating as a foundation for better health—for both kids and adults.
Outside of his medical practice, he enjoys playing guitar and cycling the Razorback Greenway with his wife on their recumbent trikes.
